Here are just some of the things that Charity for Children has been able to do through your generosity:

• Helped purchase a wheelchair accessible van for a family

 

• Helped pay for a cranial transplant for a 15-year-old girl with Recurrent Neuroblastoma.                                                                                                                                     
• Helped with medical care expenses  for a family that has a newborn in the hospital with a terminal brain tumor. 

 

• Provided financial assistance to a  single mom with a 13-year-old child with Leukemia. 

 

• Provided financial assistance to a single unemployed mom who has a child with mild Cerebral Palsy Hemiplegia.

 

• Paid for dental surgery for a 5 year old with abdominal obstruction and a host of other medical problems.  Also, helped this family with expenses while in Boston Children's Hospital for ongoing visits.

 

•  Provided financial assistance to a single mom with a terminally ill 3 year old so the mother and child could spend their last days together.

 

• Donated many supplies to a family with 2 children with Cystic Fibrosis whose mother passed away from heart failure.
  
  
• Paid for a consult with Neurologist in New York City for a child with Neuro- fibromatosis.  Also contacted several Neurologists on behalf of the family to help them locate a physician that would operate on this 13-year-old girl.  Advocated for this family with the insurance company resulting in a $14,000.00 reimbursement and full coverage for subsequent treatment.

 

• Helped family research specialist for a child with Glycogen Storage Disease Type 1 and paid for medical consultation with specialist.

• Provided financial assistance to a 10-year-old boy with Larsen Syndrome who needs orthotics. 
  
  
• Provided financial assistance for dental surgery for a young girl with Down
   syndrome.

 

• Paid for a computer for a child suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury.

 

• Sent 3 children from Upstate Burn Unit to camp.

 

• Distributed supplies and toys to local hospitals at Christmas for children that were hospitalized during the holidays.

 

• Distributed approximately 250 sets of “First Duds” to local hospitals and clinics in Onondaga and Oswego Counties.  This program provides new families with limited or no resources with a new set of infant clothing for their baby.  This is an ongoing program.

 

• Paid travel expenses for a child with Sinus Cancer and her parents to New York City where she is receiving treatment.  Also paid for a vehicle to meet them at the airport and transport them to the hospital.

 

• Paid for a family of 3 to travel and stay in Cleveland while their son was being treated in Cleveland Children's Hospital.

 

• Provided financial support for a local family to take their 3 year boy who is chronically ill with Pseudo Abdominal Obstruction to go to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital.  This family is in dire financial straits and CFC has paid for 2 trips to Pittsburgh, lodging and food for the parents and the child.  The child is scheduled for an intestinal transplant and could not have kept this evaluation without our support.   This family continues to receive support from CFC in an effort to relieve the financial burden during this very critical time.

 

• CFC has paid utility bills for local families who have chronically or terminally ill children in the hospital.  Many of these families could not afford basic utilities due to parents absence from work while they were with their child.

 

• Purchased crib, bedding and supplies for a 6 month old child with Neuroblastoma and who is paralyzed from the waist down.

 

Charity for Children covers expenses and fills in the gaps for chronically or terminally ill children, many of which would not receive treatment or specialized medical care without the assistance of our organization.  We fill in the gaps that other organizations or agencies cannot or do not meet.  As you can see we change families’ lives every day for many who have no where else  to turn.  We hope you will join our family in helping to support these struggling families.
